The package has a black plastic lid on top with a latch. You flip up the latch, pull up on the plastic handle and lift it off. There's your usb cable on top. Pull two plastic tabs back, pull up on a tab in the center and the whole thing lifts out. No need to cut or tear anything! Off to a good start.

So, I take the headset out of the package and it looks just as nice as it does in the pictures. It's really something. I put it on and set it up with my PS3. Tested it out, played some metal gear online matches, etc.

So far, it's plenty loud, the sound is good and it's definitely comftorable. It doesn't sit in your ear at all, but the ear piece is larger (but very flat) so you get plenty of sound.

Overall, I'm very impressed with this headset and surprised there aren't more reviews.

25 of 26 people found the following review helpful: 5.0 out of 5 stars Stylish PS3 Headset, October 4, 2008 This device is great and well worth the price.

First the packaging. Unlike most new devices or accessories I buy these days, this one came in a very simple to open package. It was not heat sealed in a thick plastic that seems to get sharper than the scissors you need to open it! For this all you had to do was remove two pieces of tape, lift two tabs and the main piece just slides right out. The earpiece is then secured with a twist tie that is very simply removed. This is a company that knows people actually like to use the things they buy!

Second is the included chargers. It does not use a standard USB connection to charge; however, they include a cable designed for plugging into a USB port. I use this PS3 Charge Station to charge my controllers and now my earpiece thanks to that cable.

Now the actual earpiece. It is very comfortable and sits well on the ear. The loop that goes around your ear is very soft and flexible.

As they say you will forget you are even wearing it. Or at least you would if it wasn't for the great sound quality. That little single speaker on the device is extremely clear. I have had no problems hearing people and no one has complained about being able to hear me.

This device allows for great communication while playing, so it does add another level of fun to gaming.

Other people with mics can hear you as if your right next to them and you can every word anyone says. For the price this headset is probably the best on the market. I have tried Xbox 360 and Ps3 headset and this one is by far the best headset. Some people say that wireless headsets have bad connection or get choppy but i have had this headset for 2 yrs and it functions like it did right out of the box. Logitech PlayStation 3 Vantage USB Headset

Logitech PlayStation 3 Vantage USB Headset Customer Reviews

This review is from: Logitech PlayStation 3 Vantage USB Headset

Wow.. I can't believe some of the reviews. This headset for under 20 bucks is great.

Here's a couple of points to some of the bad things I've seen here..

1. It's not small. My head is 7 1/2 hatsize and that's pretty fair size. It adjusts bigger than I need.

2. The mic does only reach your mid cheek, but that's the way you want it. The days of needing the mic to reach around in front of your mouth are over. How do you people think blue tooth phones pick up your voice from up by your ear? LoL at folks.. technology people.. keep up.

3. It is plenty sturdy. It's not made of metal though. I've had mine for 5 months or so now and it's in the same shape as I bought it and that's with me and my 2 kids using it.

4. I play Burnout Paradise every night and my setup on the Ps3 is constantly among the best sounding. Period.

5. The mic again.. it doesn't touch your cheek unless you adjust it too. It's got a flex rod and can easily be bent anyway you want it. Away from your cheek or on it. lol again at this complaint.

Overall, I'd say this headset right now is the best option for the PS3. I've tried some wireless headsets and just wasn't happy with the quality, so I bought this on to use till I found a better solution.. now though, I quit looking. I'm happy with this headset and don't see the need to look further.

Will it stand up to a temper tantrum trowing child, smashing it on the ground after getting pwn'd in MGS? Probably not. My kid broke my 250 dollar Sennheiser's when he couldn't beat "Raining Blood" on Guitar Hero/extreme. Now he's the lawnmower hero.

Best Headset for the Best Price, I'm sick and tired of people giving bad reviews on this headset.I own a PS3 and I've played COD4 for about 12 days. Many people have horrible mics that echo and make what I call "the devil screech." Bluetooth mics create that noice when they pick up background noice. I previously owned a blutooth not knowing about this one. The first problem was it echoed horribly, where as the this product has no echo what so ever. Also charging a blutooth can be a pain and turning it on and off for some can be trouble. When using this product it requires no charging and it is always paired and it is always on. The noise cancelation on this product is great. I usually always have a loud tv on in my house and my friends can't hear it any more since I've switched to the Logitech USB. Also the cord is very long so you don't have to play close to your tv if you don't want to. In short this headset is the most reliable product on the market today for its inexpensive price.

Ear Force DPX21 PS3 Headset and 5.1/7.1 Channel Dolby Surround Sound (Accessory) tagged "ps3 headset" 11 times

Ear Force DPX21 PS3 Headset and 5.1/7.1 Channel Dolby Surround Sound Customer Reviews

By far the best I've owned. This pair of headphones has a truly spectacular frequency response range. Despite the fact these are headphones, you will FEEL the bass reverberating between your ears! The fact that these work with pretty much any audio source you'll run across from stereo analog input to digital fiber optic is pretty sweet.

I've owned many headphones. Be it from cheap stereo to "pseudo-surround", such as the Plantronics Gamecom (pseudo-surround) and I even have a pair of the mid-line SHURE headphones (they have reasonable bass response), this pair will blow them away.

Sound is crisp in the mid/high range as well. For the price, you certainly won't be dissappointed! If you're a SHURE headphone fan, these will really impress you.

The only downside to these are the MASSIVE amount of cables that accompany them. It's not that there's many, it's just that they're really LONG (which is GREAT in most cases!)... Just remember you're going to have to bundle them if you're going to use them on your PC (as I do) so they aren't strewn across your entire desk.

Best video game related purchase ever,I never write reviews. In 12 years on Amazon, this is the second one I believe; but, I had to share my experience with these fantastic headphones. I'll be brief - don't worry about price; cost (rather than price) implies value atop price, and let me tell you the added value is well worth it. Besides the 5.1/7.1 ability (separating it from the lower tier model), is the fact that it is usable on X360, PC, and Mac, which is fantastic for me since I game on literally every modern platform. My PC gaming sessions, audio/video work on Mac, voice chat/calling, has been as great an experience as on my preferred gaming platform, PS3. I mention this because I've played with dozens of headsets over the years and nothing comes close. As far as making calls over Google Voice and Skype, the good news continues. The cords are quite long (at least 15 feet I'd say), which works well in my large living room. Set up was a breeze for me and will be for you. I mean, if you've connected a modern home theater set-up...come on, this is child's play.

The over the ear design is extremely comfortable and I barely notice having them on after several hours of listening. I love the independent controls for chat vs. the game, important for team play during multiplayer matches and MMO's. The bass is quite prolific and easy to control. Other reviewers likely couldn't figure out that you just need to lower it on the main unit, so you can adjust accordingly on the other control unit that you keep close to you during matches. From a gameplay standpoint the channel separation is just fantastic and it really does help in picking up attacks vs. a non-surround set-up like my previous 3 channel soundbar. I had a 5.1 setup in my old house and I can tell you that now that I've gone DPX21, I would never go back to gaming with a traditional 5.1/7.1 external speaker setup. It's just needlessly disruptive for those around you and totally unnecessary. The experience with this headset trumps any setup I've experienced in my home or in any friends' homes. I don't know what it is, but I usually feel underwhelmed in some way by most setups - either by weak sound, inconsistently delivered volume on separate channels, or when they're properly powered and loud the reverberation in the wall or some other factor takes the cleanliness from the sound, not to mention it's usually bugging someone somewhere. I really can't say much else, other than to buy this gem of a product and you'll be happy (as will housemates).

Ear Force DSS 7.1 Channel Dolby Surround Sound Processor (Accessory) tagged "ps3 headset" 12 times

Ear Force DSS 7.1 Channel Dolby Surround Sound Processor Customer Reviews

This review is from: Ear Force DSS 7.1 Channel Dolby Surround Sound Processor (Accessory) If you are traveling, and you need something that can handle optical 7.1 channel audio, this is a fine item to bring along. It's a little smaller than a pack of smokes and can be run off of a usb to ac adapter. I live in a small apartment in Japan, so I don't have space for a huge sound system. Also, I suffer from insomnia, and sometimes I want to play a game or watch a movie late at night. This gadget allows me to hook up some good headphones and enjoy my movies and games without being a pain to my roommates or neighbors.

It's also worth noting that the surround sound, even on standard headphones, is remarkably well-done. I have been testing it with Metal Gear Solid 4 on my ps3, which I connected to the unit with an optical cable. I'm hearing things I never noticed before in the game, and I really can sense the location of enemies and other things by sound alone with this device.

I think audiophiles would prefer other DACs for listening to cds or lossless music, but if you want a surround sound system that can fit in your pocket or go with you on a trip, or want to be able to listen to surround sound without disturbing your neighbors or flatmates, this is what you've been waiting for.

My only other suggestion is to use good headphones with this unit. It'll work with whatever you hook into it, but better headphones will reveal the high-quality bass, mid, and treble sound that this unit produces.

It is good, very good.Well, teamed up with my px21s this little box is a dream. It actually does work, and my game play has gone up by loads on Black Ops.

*
Thought I would update now that I have spent some time with the device. I am still loving everything about it. I took a while to find the perfect balance between the px21 settings and the dss setting, but I have found it and the sound is amazing.
All I have played is Black Ops and as we know the sound with the game still has some issues, but even so it works a treat. I can hear enemy footsteps/rc car engine from afar and also what direction it is coming from. I can not count the amount of times I saved myself from a certain death by knowing which way the enemy is coming from.

My kills have also shot up, where as before I was a very below average player, I end up now in the top three much more often than not. My K/D ratio has gone from .45 in MW2 to 1.25 in B Ops. And all of this changed since the day I started using the headphones and the DSS.

So yes I am 100% convinced this little gadget was worth the buy and I would recommend it 100%.

It works very well with turtle bay headphones.

Perfect for movies and gaming,Like any self respecting gaming/movie buff college grad, one of my top priorities for survival after graduating was a solid entertainment system. To this end I got myself a PS3, hooked it up to my TV and z-5500 5.1 surround sound speaker set (I know, fancy right?). This set-up was pretty fantastic, especially for the price of entry, and served me well for a couple years.

Then, one stormy night, lightening struck way to close to my apartment complex. Actually, it might have even hit our complex, I don't know as I wasn't actually at home that night. Unfortunately, that managed to fry some of my stuff. I even had one of the Ethernet ports on my PC get zapped, because (and I did a little research on this because I thought it was so weird) the Ethernet cable was so long (coiled up 25' cable) and the lightning struck so close the it acted like an antenna and picked up a ton of EM. FYI, I guess it happens.

Anyway, the z-5500s were also a casualty. I decided that since I had an excuse I should maybe just invest in serious speakers. In the mean time, I definitely needed something to provide sound! TV speakers just don't cut it for gaming. After doing a ton of back and forth on the Astro A-40 mix-amp vs. cans with multiple drivers, I settled on a virtual surround processor with "real" headphones as the answer. Instead of the Astro mix-amp though, I decided to give this new kid a shot. Because this is cheaper. Hah.

Logitech Premium Stereo Headset with Noise-Canceling Microphone

Logitech Premium Stereo Headset with Noise-Canceling Microphone Customer Reviews

This review is from: Logitech Premium Stereo Headset with Noise-Canceling Microphone

Affordable, High-Quality Headset with Microphone
, I bought this device for recording podcasts and chatting with my friends on Skype, Gizmo, and Paltalk. I have been extremely impressed with the quality of the headphones and microphone.

First, about the headphones: They are quite comfortable (for me at least), and produce a nice, bass-rich sound. The volume control is nice, because the last set I bought produced sound that was way too loud, and I would get a shock if I didn't lower the volume greatly when switching from speakers to headphones. This set produces a more even sound.

Second, about the microphone: I am very pleased. This microphone puts my older microphone (a Labtec microphone from 2001) to shame, and saves me from having to clean up my recordings in Audacity to get rid of excess hum and noise. I was impressed that the noise-canceling feature really works well. Also, I can talk using a normal, conversational voice and the microphone picks it up clearly. The microphone can be adjusted up and down, and toward and away from your mouth, making it very easy to find the best location for the microphone in relation to your mouth. The sound quality is so excellent that as soon as my friends heard me talk with this microphone, they wanted one. I gave them a link to this product and they will order it soon.

Overall, I couldn't be more pleased. While I haven't compared this headset with other headsets, I can tell you that for the price, the quality is excellent, and I will be recommending it to all my friends as an affordable, high-quality headset with microphone.Good Audio - Very

Uncomfortable, My husband bought two pairs of these, one for each of us. Before opening the second package he had me try his on since he felt they were uncomfortable after a short time. At first it seemed alright except the ear pieces didn't fit quite right on my ears. The sound put my regular speakers to shame and I was very impressed by the tiny details I've been missing in my World of Warcraft music. However, after wearing them for a short time, they became uncomfortable on my ears and also where the band sits on top of my head. Although the audio quality is excellent, I would not recommend these for any hardcore gamers that plan on wearing headphones for extended periods of time for voice chat.

PS3 Ear Force P11 Amplified Stereo Gaming Headset

PS3 Ear Force P11 Amplified Stereo Gaming Headset Customer Reviews

This review is from: PS3 Ear Force P11 Amplified Stereo Gaming Headset

An Excellent, Multi-Purpose Headset. The P11 headset brings quality at a fair price. It boasts many features that I look for in a headset, while keeping a good 'bang for the buck' price and not sacrificing build quality.

** THE GOOD **
- The overall design for the P11 is fairly simple yet sturdy. The cuffs fit snug on my ears even with glasses!(soft foam earmuffs make a big difference)
- 50mm speakers are a nice addition. You often find smaller 40mm speakers on headsets this price.
- Sound quality is exceptional. These easily have performed better than my older Logitech headset and come close to rivaling my Sennheiser HD 515
- Control Box is simple yet efficient. It has a MUTE button as well as MIC and GAME volume controls
- MIC MONITOR!!! Such a nice feature. You hear your own voice in a subtle fashion so you know how loud you are talking which makes for more natural conversations
- 12ft cord is nice especially when other headsets are 6-8ft . The extra few feet make a big difference

** THE BAD **
- No XBOX 360 support
- Frame itself is sturdy but might be prone to cracking if the headset is stressed
- Requires 2 cable hookup. While this isn't something new to the market the cable management Nerd in me goes bonkers! Not a negative just adds to wire clutter

** THE ULGY **
- The belt clip on the audio controller feels very cheap. Be extra careful with it

* Overall the P11 headset is a lot of bang for your buck. It has a fairly simple setup and works for both PS3 and PC/MAC. It brings very good quality audio to the table, larger/higher quality speakers to the mix, and a small army of features that will make any gamer happy. If you do not own a headset this is a perfect headset for a mid-ranged user. While it isn't top of the line you are getting your money's worth and will not be disappointed in your purchase.

**NOTE: Setup is fairly simple. For a PC/MAC it is plug-n-play. Just plug the green audio cable into your sound card and then plug the USB cable in. After drivers are automatically installed you should be set to go (you might have to manually set the computer to the headset which can be done in Device Manager > Hardware and Sound > Sound

- For a PS3 just plug the USB cable into the PS3. The stereo adapter cables then hook up to the Audio OUT of your TV and you plug the green cable into those or you can plug the green cable into the back of the PS3 and just mute your TV. Go into your PS3 accessory settings and change the headset output to the P11 device. Both PC and PS3 setups are very easy to do

P11 vs PX21 what is the difference?

The P11 is the newest model from Turtle Beach and boasts some "minor" changes to the design. Below is a break down so you can decide which headset is right for you

P11 = PS3, PC/MAC
X11 = 360, PC/MAC
PX21 = PS3, 360, PC/MAC (universal)

X11 and PX21 both use 40mm drivers.... P11 uses 50mm drivers and outputs a bit better bass. The PX21 has a 16ft cord vs the 12ft cord of the X11 and P11. The PX21 also has a flexi-MIC where as the X11 and P11 both use standard mic's. The PX21 also has an option to adjust the Bass boost.

* So overall if you own a PS3 and 360... you want a PX21. What it sacrifices is basically 10mm of speaker power but gives you a nice universal headset for around $10 more. If you only own a PS3, a PC or PS3/PC then you probably should get the P11 as you end up with slightly better audio for less money.

very impressed, this headset is a great value. for only 60 bucks, you get very high quality sound for both your ps3 and pc or mac. one noticeable thing is the weight. these are very, very light. most of the time i forget i even have them on! the mic is very high quality; reception is clear on both ends. things sound spectacular on the ps3, especially bad company 2. footsteps are loud, gunshots are powerful, and explosions are very articulate with plenty of bass. overall, a great headset and a great value.

Excellent PS3 Headset, Recommended.Turtle Beach has been making gaming headsets for years. Yet I found myself P11 deserves to be one of the
best headset made by anybody. I don't like all glitters, therefore let me go into deep core first.

PROS
1. Good and matching design for PS3 (Black finish and red stripes makes it aesthetically impressive)
2. Comfortable and light; after long hours bashing buttons, gamers with big headsets like this one would hurt themselves.
However, due to its comfy and light measurements, no worries here! I think I could go all night with this baby! (No innuendo btw)
3. Sound Controller, or AMP will make sure you to have maximum gaming experiences. You can MUTE anytime you want, and increase/decrease your chat volume. The Chat Monitor allows players to hear themselves so that way, player don't have to yell.
4. Sound Quality, it is good period Amped up and stereo is really good. For example, In CoD Modern Warfare or CoD Black Ops, I could hear much better now! I could hear enemies location, footsteps, cooking grenades, and etc. I would have to try this headset with GT5, DeadSpace 1 or 2, MW2, and my other games to realize its extend.
5. Ergonomics, Seriously gamers, if you could buy Sony's brand new Bluetooth microphone, why not buy this?
It comes with TWO features you know. One headset and other crystal-clear microphone. The price is only $50 in Amazon. I believe retailers sell you for $60. It is only $10 difference or so. Yet it is so much better. Trust me, I was an once-a-user of Bluetooth. And I know the pain. haha
6. USB powered, which means that you don't have to charge your thing everyone time you wish to play some games.

CONS
1. Cheap Material? Well this could be subjective because for me, I think the stuff they used to make this thing, isn't that cheaply made. Yet you better be careful with this baby because the top part and the earpiece connector seem to be ... little not sturdy. So...
2. Cables? Well come on everybody, it is just a another cable in your collection of tangled cables. Why not add a another one? Besides the headset gives you a long cord so, no worries here too.

So at the end, I would recommend this one to friend or anybody who has doubts about it. You cannot go wrong with this one. Unless you are a really new to the system but sound quality, design, microphone, price and etc. overwhelms the cons.
Now, I will go over some things that I have learned.

An excellent Jabra bluetooth bargain, The Jabra BT125 is the perfect workhorse for someone who needs an inexpensive bluetooth headset. Logitech Cordless Vantage Headset for Playstation 3 (Video Game) tagged "ps3 headset" 10 times

Logitech Cordless Vantage Headset for Playstation 3 Customer Reviews

Better than what you've got!, Best product for PS3 on-line gaming. A lot of people scoff at it's high price, but I've crunched the numbers. I've used Motorola H500 (terrible), Motorola H550 (good/ above average), & Jabra BT125 (good). Besides the Jabra and Madcatz there aren't any blue tooth headsets that are cheaper. By the time you purchase a cell headset you've already spent over $60.00, this device is designed specifically for the PS3. Works flawlessly and the volume, on/ off, mute functions are the easiest to use during game play. Highly recommend this headset, if you don't get it for on-line play I'll enjoy reaping the benefits of your poor play due to a shoddy mic. Oh, and for all the jokers saying "go to e-bay, you're getting robbed in price"...buyer beware. I've been through two fake headsets that totally bent me over due to e-bay. I had to purchase straight from the store, Amazon, or CDW.

Good But Not Great,In using the Logitech Wireless Vantage headset with my PS3 over the past 6 months I'm happy with the performance of the unit though I believe that improvements are needed with the design.

First the good; the Vantage is well built out of sturdy plastics that feel "right". I've inadvertently dropped the unit on a few occasions without any problems or damage. The ear piece is comfortable enough to use during extended periods of online gaming and offers a crisp, clear sound. The microphone though somewhat short (mine only reaches to my cheek) picks up my voice while canceling most background noise. This is the major advantage of this headset; as anyone who has played online games can attest to the annoyance of heavy breathing and constant static being transmitted over games. At least using the Vantage you won't "be that guy." Another major advantage of the unit is the 12 hour battery life. While I can't say that I've ever timed the unit to see if the claim is true. I often go several days or even a week without charging the unit with almost daily use. When the unit does need to be charged, I've found that a quick 30- 45 minute connection to the included charger adapter is sufficient for a full charge.

A few problems with the overall design and ergonomics of the Vantage keep me from giving it a better rating. The primary problem is with the headsets actual headband. It's made of a somewhat soft, pliable plastic but is completely unadjustable. Logitech decided to rely solely on the flexibility of the plastic band. Unfortunately that could make the unit troublesome for anyone with a smaller or larger than average head. Additionally I've found that the location of the headband coupled with the weight of ear piece can become uncomfortable. That can be somewhat offset by the fact that the headset can be quickly switched to the opposite ear. Another issue with the design of the headband is that it is very uncomfortable to use with eyeglasses due to the location of the headband. In fact, I'd strongly advise anyone who uses eyeglasses to stay away from this headset.

I've read at least one review here at Amazon that claims the Vantage interferes with the Sony SIXAXIS or Dualshock 3 controllers. I'm happy to report that I've never once experienced interference of any sort with this headset. Also, besides the first initial pairing of the headset to my PS3 I've never had to repeat the process.

Playstation 3 Metal Gear Solid Headset

Love it - Great deal!, I bought this from one of Amazon's 3rd party sellers at a great price. I couldn't be happier. I bought it to use with MGS4, but have been using it with my phone too. This was my first headset, so it took a little getting use to. After about a week I barely even know it's there. I don't understand the mid level reviews, maybe they were written right after they bought them. There is a break-in period, but after a week or so it's great. Oh, and it looks cool too.

PS3 Ear Force PX21 Gaming Headset

PS3 Ear Force PX21 Gaming Headset Customer Reviews

This review is from: PS3 Ear Force PX21 Gaming Headset (Accessory) ....then you absolutely have to have this. The sound quality and the ability to adjust the different volumes is outstanding. I play Call of Duty about 90% of the time online and this just makes the entire online experience better. I use to get into games with kids making annoying noises etc. Now with the push of a finger I don't have to listen to it but I can still hear the game perfectly. In fact, a buddy and me went into a private match on shipment. I could hear him from across the map setting up claymore's, pulling grenade pins, moving and even swiping his knife. The only negative thing I have to say about this headset is that it's not wireless but I am sure that would add quite a lot of money to the price. They are also extremely light and comfortable and .................................................You know what, stop reading this and just go buy a set of these already. Help other customers find the most helpful reviews Was this review helpful to you?

Best thing I've bought for my PS3 since Battlefield Bad Company, I was researching headsets that mixed chat and the game sound in stereo in the earphones, with the chat mic all as a single unit. I came across the press release of the PX21. Not available at the time, but coming soon. I almost didn't wait for it. I almost bought the P21. I'm glad I waited.

Features:
- You hear chat and stereo game sound in the earphones.
- Setup was easy for me and they provide all the cables and adapters you need.
- The cable is looong. I play on a 58" TV and I wouldn't want to sit as far away as the cable
would let me.
- A control cluster for mic and sound that gives you:
* Separate volume controls for game sound and chat volume
* Mute switch for the mic
* Bass boost
* Expanded stereo mode

What I liked:
- The stereo effect is good especially with the stereo expansion mode turned on.
If there's an enemy behind me and to the left, I hear him behind me and to the left.
As noted in other reviews there *is* a hiss. More on that later.
- The sound quality is good. And by that I mean for playing video games. I have a set of $120
Sennheiser can headphones I use for home recording. Music sounds great in them. Before the
PX21 I used those plugged into a Dolby 5.1 amplifier getting an optical sound feed. The PX21
is much better for playing video games because the sound is crisper. Music may not sound
great on them, but I can hear the enemy sneaking up on me.
- Mic. The mic boom has a great range of movement and stays in whatever position I put it.
Other people tell me I come across good and clear. The mute switch is great, of course...
why would you make a headset without one?
- Comfortable. Again, compared to my Sennheisers, these are much more comfortable. The earpads
are fabric covered and the headband isn't tight. You don't develop a headache or aching ears
after a couple of hours of play. The mic boom is long, flexible and comfortable to use.
- And mostly what I liked... I play better. From the first time I used it, I consistently
scored higher.

What I don't like
- Hiss. Yes, it hisses. A little in normal mode, significantly more in expanded stereo mode.
Again, it might be a problem listening to music or quiet passages in other games. But you
really only need expanded mode in games where directions of sound cues are important. Turn
of the stereo expansion when you don't need it and the hiss is negligible. If you want to
listen to music, get a pair of $120 Sennheisers and leave the headset for the games.
- The clip on the control cluster is backwards. Hard to explain, but whenever I try clipping
the control cluster to my shirt, the wires hang awkwardly.

Wireless Stereo Headset

This review is from: Wireless Stereo Headset

A review for audiophiles,I am seeing a lot of superlatives being thrown around in these reviews. It can make it difficult to determine if this is the right product for you. I would say that for MOST audiophiles and nearly all other ps3 owners, this is a worthy purchase. There is however a segment of highly discerning audiophiles that this will simply not suffice.

I struggled at first to determine what I thought about the product. What I ultimately concluded was that for convenience and ease of use alone, this is a worthwhile product that is close to the correct price point. I locked in when the preorder price was $65 here on amazon, so I am definitely satisfied with the value. $100 may have been close to the high point, but I still think it is a decent value for what you get here. Here is the breakdown:

- The virtual surround is not going to blow you away. Like others have pointed out, it makes the low end sound a little thin, and some realism is lost in the process. I have a difficult time determining which I prefer, stereo or virtual surround. For sports games, I prefer stereo. For shooters, virtual surround does offer a little bit of directional recognition, so it is useful, but again, nothing impressive.

- I am a borderline audiophile. I have spent upwards of $500 on headphones before, and have considered the purchase completely worth it for the fidelity provided. My current favorite is the Shure SE 535: [...]

I would say that high end headphones have spoiled me to the point that I could never consider this sony product as exceptional sounding. It is not. I can't really listen to this product at high volumes without getting ear fatigue very quickly and noticing the sound signature short comings. I prefer to listen at a very low volume (~25%) because it still provides a degree of immersion that I was not able to achieve at night, or even during the day, if I didn't want to be blasting the home theatre. Which brings me to my next point:

- For pure convenience and reliability, this purchase was worth it. If I want to watch a movie with headphones on, I will be using my shures, no doubt. If I am going to sit down to a long session of an epic single player game, I will probably plug in the shures (I use a 25 ft headphone extension cable to reach the couch BTW). But if I'm gaming online, or just playing a quick game of Fifa or NBA 2K11, or any other casual session of gaming or online browsing, I am definitely not going to put myself through the inconvenience of tethering myself with cables from my ears to the receiver. It's just not practical. And that is where this headset will earn its value in spades. It's so easy to just pick the headset up, turn it on, and get a fairly immersive gaming experience. To be honest, since receiving the headset in the mail last friday, and a weekend of gaming, I have not had the desire to use anything except this wireless headset. It's so nice to not have anyone in the house even know I'm there, whereas before I would be getting constant requests to turn the sound down.

- Comfort is a huge plus. These are among the most comfortable headphones I've ever placed on my noggin. The leather used is plush and of suprising quality. I'm impressed. They are lightweight and just barely noticeable. Another valuable aspect of this product that makes me happy I ordered them.

- Being able to use this wirelessly with my laptop is also a plus. Plug the dongle into the usb, press play, and listen to some tunes. I won't be doing this much, since the shures are already so minimalist. But it's nice knowing I can.

- The ability to have crystal clear chatting is the icing on the cake. Can't do that with the shures. I had not used voice chat since the original Xbox days, and I forgot how fun it can be when gaming with friends. It's like they are right there with you.

So, even for audiophiles, I would say this is a product to consider. However, there is that 10% segment of audiophiles that constantly get upgrade-itis, and only want the highest end product out there. If this is you, you already know that you should be seeking out a better headset.

For me however, I'd much rather save the extra money for a worthwhile audio upgrade that isn't specifically tied to gaming or a computer. Why spend an extra few hundred dollars or so on a gaming headset when that money could be used more effectively to upgrade some other area of your audiophile life. Unless you game an unhealthy amount, the money can be better spent elsewhere.

Skullcandy 2011 GI SGS For PS3

Skullcandy 2011 GI SGS For PS3 Customer Reviews

This review is from: Skullcandy (Product Out Of Date, Newer Version Available) GI PS3 Gaming Headphone with Boom Mic S6GIB3-BR (Black/Red)

Great if you get them for less than $90,I had purchased these for my PS3 about two months ago. Over all they are a fine product. For Sixty bones you can't beat it. But if I had to pay 90 I think I might be inclined to go for Trittons 5.1 head sets. But for stereo head sets they are great and the mic works great.(I read a review that said the opposite) Comfort the are good for about 30 to 45 minutes, then my large ears need a break. My biggest complaint is the Game/mic volume controls. They are hard to read to see witch one is witch. On top of that to turn up game volume you scroll up on one side and the mic(players) volume you scroll down. Hard to do that on the fly. Bottom line if you don't want a ear piece and don't want to spend 100 bones+ look for these sweet things on deal and pick you up some!

p.s. They work for your pc too!

DECENT HEADSETS, The Skullcandy GI PS3 Gaming Headset can be summed up in a few words. Budget friendly performer. I can afford to buy Astros, but to spend so much on a headset lends to the reasoning behind that splurging. I play my PS3/Xbox a lot, but I only need the headset in the FPS style games. That being the case, a budget set is more practical for me. If you are the same as I am, then you can give these a try, but if you have the choice, I would believe Turtle Beach has a better track record and a comparable price tag.The Skullcandys are comfortable for medium/long sessions and perform well enough for me to get a general grasp of the enemy's position in reference to my own.

A good alternative to the Turtle Beach Mid Range Headsets for the PS3.

Update as of January 15th, 2011 the headset has broken. The sound still works, the mic is fine, the the build quality of the device is poor. When a headset breaks within the housing of the extendable headset, nothing can be blamed but the quality of the materials used in its construction. I mean the headsets have been treated like royality, yet they've broken from me putting them on? Really? I don't even need to extend them! Yet, they have broken inside the housing, all the plastic is still stuck inside, but shattered into pieces. I had such high hopes for this headset.

Turtle Beach, here I come!

Nice, This headset is comfortable to wear and the sound is awesome. I can be playing while people around me are talking, crying, laughing and hear nothing but the game. This also helps to communicate with people on the team (Black Ops) so that we can beat the other team in whatever challenge we are in. I would by again for the price and quality. I have only used it on the PS3 so I do not know how it sounds on the computer but I imagine it would be good.

Sharkoon X-Tatic SR Gaming Headset with Dolby Headphone Technology for XBOX 360/PS3/PC

Sharkoon X-Tatic SR Gaming Headset with Dolby Headphone Technology for XBOX 360/PS3/PC Customer Reviews

This review is from: Sharkoon X-Tatic SR Gaming Headset with Dolby Headphone Technology for XBOX 360/PS3/PC

It's official...they're delicious!, I went ahead and took a chance on these headphones as I was looking for a viable replacement to the Tritton AX720's I had previously owned and given away. As with most gaming headsets, I was going to expect something bulky, yet sturdy since that's kind of the status quo with gaming headsets in general. I was pleasantly surprised at the size of both the headset and the SCU (sound control unit). I was surprised in the sense that the headphones were light, compact, yet appear to be sturdy (no I will not "drop test" them). The SCU likewise is compact, so if spacing is an issue for you, trust me it will not take up much space.

Now to sum up the acoustic quality? It's simply ravishing. I am using this with an Xbox 360, and tested it with games such as Battlefield Bad Company 2 and Medal of Honor. Audio plays a big part in the multi-player gaming experience, since in both games, I was able to hear others try to flank me and I was able get the drop on them first with my team. The sound is crisp and realistic, and supports all the current Dolby platforms, with the exception of Dolby 7.1. Gaming chat is good, if not better than with the standard headset that came with the console. The mic is detachable, flexible, and appears to be quite durable.

Setup of the headphones was really easy, since all the connectivity goes directly to the console. I was also pleased with the fact that it is USB powered, so no need for an additional AC adapter. Thank goodness since all of the outlets on my powerstrip are all occupied.

In conclusion, this headset has got the essentials to meet and even exceed most gamers expectations. It's got a sophisticated/streamlined look and feel, the acoustics are impressive, the setup was a snap, and the overall experience with them thus far is a great one.

Give it a shot sports fans, I don't think you'll be disappointed.

Decent midrange headset, I ave actually had several different gaming headsets. I have played on or owned the following headsets.Tritton TRIAX-180 AX 180 Universal Gaming Headset, Tritton TRIAX-720 AX 720 Dolby Digital Surround Sound, Turtle Beach, EarForce X31 Wireless Chat+Gam (Catalog Category: Videogame Accessories / Headsets & Speakers), Ear Force X41 (XBOX LIVE Chat + Wireless Digital RF Game Audio with Dolby Headphone 7.1 Surround Sound), and Ear Force PX5 Programmable Wireless 7.1 Dolby Digital Surround Sound Headset with Bluetooth. So I have a little background on gaming headsets.

The first thing that struck me about this headset when pulling it out of the box was the sheer volume of the number of chords included in the packet. Granted, this headset is billed as being versatile and usable on Xbox 360, PS3, and PC but I would have hoped for a much more streamlined set-up across all devices.

In regards to connecting to an Xbox 360. If you have the original 360 design you will need one of two things. Either the AV cable that has a built in Digital Audio Optical Out port or if you are using HDMI you will need a RCA Audio Cable Adapter for XBOX 360 + Slim. If you are using the new Xbox 360 Slim model this won't be an issue as there is now one built into it.

Now, that all that information is out of the way, what do I think about the headset? I actually used it on my 360 and my PC to see if there was any difference.

While using the headset it I noticed right away it was light, but the ear cups seemed just a tad on the small side and didn't allow a lot of breathing room. Sound quality was good but it didn't blow me away. Chat quality on the Xbox seemed to be lacking a little bit. You need the mic very close to your mouth so your friends can hear you. One complaint I have is when game volume goes up (think explosions and such) chat volume does not compensate for it making you need to ask friends to repeat what they said or wait for the game volume to go back down.

At the end of the day you're reading this review to influence one way or another on purchasing this headset or another. So'll I'll give my opinion on that.

If you are looking around this price point for a gaming headset (at the time of writing this review it's over one hundred dollars) then I would like to recommend either the Turtle Beach X41 or the Tritton 720. They both are a stronger quality headset and offer a better gaming headset.

The Sharkoon's have potential to be a decent option but when they are the same price as other headsets that do more and are easier to hook up it doesn't make much sense. If you want to splurge then really take a look at the Turtle Beach PX5. They are programmable and have blue tooth support. It's my current headset and I love it.

This one is just average across the board. It doesn't really disappoint, but it never wowed me either.

Quality Gaming Headset, I really love this headset so far. Purchased and received last week.

I have been using a pair of Sennheiser HD555's with a 1/4" f to 1/8" m headphone adaptor and plugged into my speakers (setup via stereo). Mic solution: wrapped the standard XBox mic around my neck. Good sound, chat worked after adjusting in-game volumes. Basically it worked and sounded good enough, but the transition to a proper, solid gaming headset is night and day.

PROs:

-The first thing I noticed is how lightweight this headset is. It doesn't bear down on you and the cups don't press on your ears too hard. The cups also do a good job of encompassing your ears.

-Fantastic sound. After a few adjustments (in-line volume lower, SCU volume up), I managed to get this to an appropriate sound level. I did a few Wager Matches in Black Ops to break them in and further configure them. Worked great. Tried Bad Company 2. Wow. Just awesome. Crisp sounds and the bass booms when it needs to. This set has also proven that I will never be able to go back to regular stereo sound, either. Digital is phenomenal.

Side note: I found that turning off the "3D Sound Expander" makes it sound muuuuch better, in my opinion. Perhaps I'm using it wrong, but it was disorienting at times and seemed to create unnecessary echo. Might be better for movies perhaps.

-Configurable to any set up. Has a nice set of manuals for anything you may want to connect the headset to. Plenty of adaptors and the main cables are plenty long to connect with most setups.

-Sturdy design. Even though it's light, it doesn't feel cheap. Mic is tough and flexible as well.

CONS

-Lots of cables. My setup right now has three cables coming out of the SCU and three out of the in-line box (one connecting to the XBox controller for voice). This is probably a product of being so configurable.

Side note: This is actually still a pro for me because I don't want to deal with wireless shenanigans (mainly staying on top of rechargable batteries)

-Mic sensitivity. I haven't done any in-game chatting yet, but I have tested it out in party chat to see when it picks up. I noticed that I had to have the mic pretty close to my mouth for it to register. Again, this may bug people, but personally I do not find it bothersome.

-Also, be sure to know that if you want to use Digital, you will need some sort of Optical output on your Xbox. I was lucky enough to already have the VGA adaptor to game on my PC monitor and that has an optical output.

Logitech Gaming Headset G330 (Black)

Logitech Gaming Headset G330 (Black) Customer Reviews

This review is from: Logitech Gaming Headset G330 (Black)

A little pricey, but definitely a high quality headset by Logitech, (What's this?) With the G330, Logitech delivers a comfortable headset with surprisingly high sound quality. I would definitely recommend this product provided you're willing the spend the cash, which is considerably high for a wired headset.

I suppose I'll discuss the comfort first since that seems to be the major marketing point for this product. This is the first set of behind-the-head headphones I have ever seen that are adjustable. It seems like an obvious addition, but a welcome one. Now even people with bigger heads (like me) can look at "one-size-fits-all" and actually believe it. For me, the major issues effecting these behind-the-ear type headsets is the tightness and sharpness where they hang on your ears. Logitech seems to have nailed down both of those flaws. The tightness is adjustable and the hook around your ear is not even noticeable. All I feel while wearing these is the foam on my ears, which is soft. In addition, the ear pieces pivot slightly to take into account different types of ears. So, without a doubt this is the most comfortable headset (or behind-the-ear headphones) I have ever worn.

Now onto usage. The cord from the headset has a control box to allow for volume control and muting. On the control box is a belt-clip for attaching to clothing. It's light enough that if it's dangling, you probably won't notice it. Down from there on the cord, you'll find a velcro strap for neatly storing the wires -- a nice touch. And finally, the output plugs. These are 2 stereo jacks with embedded, color-coated labels for each to let you know that one is for the headphones and one is for the microphone. With these jacks, you can plug them into your sound card. But, like me, you'll probably want to use the provided USB adapter. The jacks plug into the adapter and then you plug that into a USB port. Windows (I'm using Windows 7 RTM) will immediately recognize this as a sound device, so there must be some kind of sound card type logic within the USB adapter (which is why I suspect the price is so high by the way). By default Windows will make this your default sound device so you will hear all your game audio through the headphones and all the voices through your PC speakers, which is the exact opposite of what I wanted. But with some simple changes to the sound devices in windows, you can swap that around so the game audio goes through your speakers and the voices go through your headset. You will likely also need to configure whatever game software you're using to work that way as well. Both Steam and Games for Windows Live allow you to do this. Just go into settings and select the G330 sound device for voice input and output, then select your audio card for game audio (music and SFX) output.

Now, had the audio configuration never defaulted to the G330 being my default audio device, I might not have had a chance to experience the sound quality that comes out of these bad boys. I have a 5.1 surround sound system, but if I didn't, I would be glad to use these for my main gaming audio device. They really sound tremendous. I was very surprised to hear that kind of quality audio coming from these little headphones. It's a very full sound, and loud without distortion. The microphone is also top quality. I recorded my voice and played it back to hear how it sounded. It was clear and defined -- definitely better than what I'm used to with Xbox Live headsets.

About Xbox Live... my only bad point about these. There is no adapter to turn them into a mono headset for use with Xbox Live. I tried buying a cheap splitter to turn the 2 3.5mm stereo jacks into 1 2.5mm stereo jack, but the adapter was a splitter and ended up combining the signals into a choppy output. So, you definitely need some kind of special adapter. I don't know if Logitech sells it or not.

So, other than that, these are top notch. I definitely recommend. Another fine product by Logitech.

One of the most well built and economical headsets I've used, I'm a big gamer, and enjoy voice chatting while playing my games, and sadly, up until this point I've just been using an Xbox 360 headset for everything. Other headsets were either too expensive for what they offered, or were cheap and of terrible quality. This logitech headset is priced reasonably (only ten dollars more than the Xbox 360 headset, by comparison), but offers the a level of quality that I've only seen in headsets offered at triple the price. The microphone quality is amazing (people have actually commented that they can hear me more clearly now), the sound quality is amazing, and the level of comfort is amazing. Sure, it's not the best looking headset ever, but as a gamer it exceeds my expectations in every other category (which are the ones that count).

If you're like me and have been settling with junky headsets for years, do yourself a favor and buy this logitech unit. You won't regret it!

A Motorola Quality Affordable Easy To Use Bluetooth Headset, Comfortable and powerful enough to use for hours. Its ergonomic, lightweight design includes interchangeable ear hooks for a secure fit. Audio quality with loudness from the elevated speaker that rests close to the ear, and voice clarity from the latest Bluetooth wireless technology

Best little headset!, I had to buy this headset because lost my original one. That's right, I loved the first one so much I hunted for it on Amazon to find it so I could have the same one. This headset is great. It has 3 different sized ear pieces, and I like how the speaker is small and rests outside of the ear. Having small ears, this was really important for me, and I knew it would be a hard thing for me to find again in a replacement, so I was overjoyed to find the same headset again. This is a really sturdy headset, it has been dropped, kicked, sat on, rolled over on my bed, and it has survived plenty of assault. I highly recommend it if you have small ears.

PS3 Special Forces Headset

PS3 Special Forces Headset Customer Reviews

This review is from: PS3 Special Forces Headset

I Decent purchase, Just got this item and I have to say, I was anticipating something that was a little more then what I got. Now don't get me wrong, this is a good item, but I thought it would help eliminate the outside noise that you can hear all too well when using a regular Bluetooth headset. Having got this little gripe out of the way, let's break down the item.

Pros
-----
1. Comfort-I give this a solid 4 stars for comfort. Only the very ends of the Headset, where the mic is located, actually have any force against the neck. Put one hand on top of the other and set them in your lap, that about how much pressure you would feel, so this is very comfortable. As for the ear piece, it's light and while it looks like it would be bulky or awkward, it was obviously well designed. I barely feel it in my ear, yet it gives clear sound at a good volume level. And even with the piece in my ear, I can clearly hear someone talking to me out of that same ear.

2. Clarity -Here I have to break this down into two sections. First is the clarity of the mic. Having done a quick initial test recording of normal speech, as well as whispering, it was easy to hear my voice in each case. However, if you mumble your words or don't pronounce them too clearly, it could be a bit difficult for your team to hear the correct words. I give the mic 3 stars. (side note){Yes, I said recording. I plugged the headset into my computer first, just to see if it would work, and it functioned perfectly.}
-For the earpiece, clarity is still pretty decent. Listening to me own voice is fine, but if your an audiophile, you wouldn't want to listen to music with this. (If your an audiophile and you like listening to music with this earpiece, your not an audiophile at all, stop lying to yourself.) For plain ol' comm use, I give this 3.5 stars.

3. Ease of Use -The cord is just as advertised. In a word, massive. I could walk almost across my living room and forget about the wire most of the way, till it tugged the USB out of the port. And even using the headset with my computer, it was a simple PlugandPlay. Nothing to worry about later, no disks to lose, just sweet, sweet gaming. 4 stars.

Cons
----

1. Outside Noise -Now as I noted before, this thing does still pick up some ambient sounds. Don't expect to be able to play and only ever have your voice be heard over the comm system. That being said, I bought the headset hoping for no outside sound being picked up, so I'm kinda disappointed. Not enough to send this back, but be aware of the limitations of something that, considering what a real throat mic goes for, can be considered cheap.

2. Cord -Honestly, I first unwound the cord, and then had to keep unwinding. I took for granted just how long this thing really is, use a tape measure to see how far 13 ft really is, if you don't already know. Your going to want some way to keep the cord in check, even while your using it. A rubber band or even the twist-tie that it comes packaged with should work just fine, though I recommend a CableCuff myself. I use the small ones for most of my small electronics wires, they work like a charm with just about everything, this monster cord included. The real reason I consider so much cord to be con is because they don't give a good way to keep it out of your way. Unless your sitting near a wall or something, there's a good chance someone could trip over the cord and either yank the headset off your neck, or even damage the cord. A little care is more then enough to combat this problem though, so it's not a major pain in the neck. (Joke intended)

Overview
----

The long cord is a mixed blessing, and this is a cheap member if it's product family. That being said, it's still a good buy, and it doesn't need constant charging like a well-used Bluetooth will. Even if I don't always use this, it's a good backup for if my Bluetooth fails, or if I need to charge the wireless headset. A solid buy if your looking for a good gaming mic.

Tritton TRIAX-180 AX 180 Universal Gaming Headset Customer Reviews

This review is from: Tritton TRIAX-180 AX 180 Universal Gaming Headset (Accessory)

I did this video review to help anyone out there with the same issues I had.

Hopefully this will help gain the insight you'll need to make a decision.

Please leave feedback, did I miss anything?

Mine lasted TWO months. Cheaply made at any price.I purchased this AX180 on January 17, 2010. In spite of my headphones being handled with care and never abused in any manner whatsoever, they broke apart on the left side where the earphone connects to the headband. The earphone now dangles from the headband by one wire and are completely unfixable and totally unuseable.

The sound was very good from them and the mic also worked very well. It really is a very good sounding headset. Unfortunately, as with other reviewers of these, I've come to find out that they really are a cheaply constructed waste of money.

The way the earphone is connected to the headband is very poorly designed and constructed. If yours hasn't come apart yet, they are ready to at any moment.

We'll see how Tritton customer service handles this. Even if Tritton replaces them, which I'm sure they will, I give these a DO NOT BUY recommendation.

UPDATED:
I called Tritton Technologies and spoke to a very nice person in their customer service dept.. They were very friendly and didn't hesitate to offer a replacement. They gave me an RMA number and I will be sending these back(at my expense which will probably be about five bucks) and I will be getting them replaced. Other than me having to pay out of my pocket to send these back to them, the Tritton customer service handled it the way all companies should.

With that said, I still give this headset a one star rating for poor construction quality and I will give the company customer service a four star rating for their no questions asked approach to dealing with me. I would have given their customer service a five star rating if they paid for postage to send the broken headset to them.

Overall, the headset still gets a DO NOT BUY from me because I know they will easily break and are worth no amount of money. Sadly, I'm certain that the new replacements Tritton sends to me will also break very quickly. I know nothing about the other Tritton models and if the ax180 is any indication of how their other models are made, I don't want to.

UPDATED PART 2:
I receied my new headset from Tritton after about a two week wait from the day I mailed the broken ones to them.
They work great just like the other ones did. I'm hoping that by me changing the way I put them on and take them off they will last longer and prevent the ear cup from breaking. Instead of pulling directly on the left and right ear cups to put them on and take them off my head, which is how most people put on these headphones, I have changed to pulling on the headband part of the headphones only and I try not to exert any pulling pressure on the ear cups as I put them on and off.

UPDATED PART 3:
As of 7/2/2010, the ax180 microphone has now quit functioning on the headset. I called Tritton and they asked me to plug the mic into my computer to see if I could record something with it in order to see if the mic itself is working or not. The mic functioned fine when used on my PC, so there must be a wiring probelm in the headset causing the mic not to work while attached to the headset.

PS3 Bluetooth Headset

PS3 Bluetooth Headset Customer Reviews

This review is from: PS3 Bluetooth Headset

Very comfortable, As usual amazon's price and shipping was a great deal.

Product is very lightweight, compared to other bluetooth headsets that tend to feel heavy after a hour+ of wearing, I've worn this for 3 hours with no ache or heavy feeling.

It comes with about half battery, a 6in usb to mini cable, and a stand. For those with the energizer 2 port controller charger, this will not fit the holder designed for the older version, however it works with the mini cable supplied plugged directly into the energizer charger.

Pros: PS3 ready, plugs into the ps2 and registers in 1 second, big mute bottom on the side, great mic and speaker.
Cons: Ear clip seems cheap, will probably break in the future, they should of shipped two. Price was a little high, but version one is only $10 cheaper as of today.

I Like it,In the past I've used my mobile bluetooth headsets for PS3 gaming and was always frustrated by the lack of sound quality, or functionality (with some headsets I would have to "connect" in the system menu every time I wanted to use them). Echo always seemed to be a pain with the few I've used!

I received the PS3 2.0 headset yesterday and spent about an hour and a half playing Black Ops multiplayer and it was noticably better. Little to no echo, very clear and seemed to be intergrated with the system better than 3rd party headsets (paring was simply plugging in - it also tells you the charge on the screen like the controller does which is nice). Thus for the short time I've used it it seems to be worth the money.

Also, it paired easily to my Android phone and the sound was also clear and loud (I left myself a message with it). The only two downsides are; 1) the plastic ear "hoop" is pretty cheap and I worry about breaking, and 2) no wall charger (comes with a short usb cable so you can chard from the PS3 - or any other usb device).

very nice, im really glad i bought this.

pros
- great audio quality
- great mic with HQ sound and noise cancelation
- lighter, smaller, sleeker than the previous model. this thing really looks and feels great. you can barely feel i on you and it doesnt fall off when you shake your head.
- lights up all different colors. its def a nice looking piece.
- smaller ear clip which is more comfortable than the previous
- very easy to use mute button as well as all other buttons
- it does not hurt my ear. other headsets i have used in the past gave me a really sore ear after and this does not.
- comes with a stand

cons
- the earbud isn't the most comfortable thing in the world but it doesnt hurt after a while so its fine. i just wish they made it sort of like skullcandy earbuds that have different rubber sizes that fit in your ear for maximum noise cancelation and comfort.
- the stand is so small and light when you have it plugged in it doesnt like to stand up, the weight of the wire tends to tip it over.
- the usb cable it comes with is about 6 inches long. its ok if your just charging it but many people like to set the headset up on the stand close to them so they can still use it to talk through while its charging.
- very sensative. this is a good thing and a bad thing. but it literally picks up any tiny noise around you.

Tom Clancy's EndWar Headset Bundle

Tom Clancy's EndWar Headset Bundle Customer Reviews

This review is from: Tom Clancy's EndWar Headset Bundle

New level of Gaming.I still cannot believe that Endwar has such an amazing voice command system that will pick up on every order your give. You really should invest in the headset bundle to really understand for yourself. Another feature worth listing are the airstrikes and weapons of mass destruction you can call in through your headset to destroy multiple units at once. This game really is a break through in gaming and is worth the extra $$$ for the headset.

New Style of RTS,I've been playing RTS games since Warcraft 1. Over the years I've been amazed by improvements in physics and general multi player dynamics of the varying games. I own around 40 RTS games. The online side of this game has elements of Cave Dog's world system; you join one of 3 factions (and get a recruitment bonus if you side with a smaller one) and try to take over the world. The online play is not what makes the game though, the voice control is truly amazing... I mumble and it picks me up perfectly. I hope more games like this come out... this is the way a console RTS should be.

average, but innovative, this game feels average and too basic, with all the basic infantry, armor, and airborne units. i do think that it was done on purpose to get a player like me to remember all the commands. too many units would be difficult. i have played the game, but i can't comment much because i only bought it for the headset. let me tell you this: it totally beats the $90 price tag at other stores. the ps3 bluetooth came in a bulk package in the box, but it works very well.

Sharkoon X-Tatic SP Gaming Headset

Sharkoon X-Tatic SP Gaming Headset Customer Reviews

Great Headset!, When i started to shop around for a gaming headset, i mostly heard about two main brands: Turtle Beach and Triton. Many people say that you can't go wrong with either. But, while shopping around, I came across Sharkoon. There really isn't much online in regards to this headset, so i figured i would check out their higher-end headset. (The X-Tatic 5.1 with surround sound) This headset received fantastic reviews across the boards. I figured if the company made quality headsets, i would check out the x-tatic sp...even without any reviews online. And i am not disappointed.

What made me reluctant to go with the Turtle Beach PX21 headset is how it looked. It was not very sexy. The Triton AX-180 looked nice, but it was $80. Since the x-tatic sp was $10 cheaper, i figured i would check them out. Not only is the sound excellent and crisp, but the headset is extremely comfortable and is continuously comfortable for long periods of time (which is important for a gaming headset). My brother has the Triton AXPROs and he loved this headset. (for those of you who don't know, the AXPROs have surround sound and are the top of the line Tritons) Why spend more than double the money to get surround sound when you can get a great sounding headset at this price range? And, for those of you who doubt the price of a stereo gaming headset, it is totally worth the price. I have never used one before while gaming...and it makes a total difference. People aren't lying when they say they hear things they didn't hear before. Its true! When you run by trees/brush you hear the rustle as you run by. You hear footsteps. Gun fire and other sounds help you locate where the shots are being fired so you can find the enemy. Even without a 5.1 surround sound headset (which really only refers to the amount of speakers in the ear cup to produce that surround sound feeling) you hear the sounds as if you were in the middle of the action. Shooting games just feel like they were made to be played with a headset like this.

So, if you are in the market for a stereo gaming headset, i can't knock the Turtle Beachs or Tritons, but i can definitely say that these would not disappoint. Great sound quality and comfortability...all you need in a gaming headset!

These things are great!,I really dig using my expensive and well thought out home theater system to play Battlefield on w/ my PS3. But, my wife doesn't dig it quite as much especially when I have a bit more free time and go on a marathon session. I bought this headset after reading the reviews and figured if I didn't like them, I'd just send them back. I have to say that I'd never really heard of Sharkoon but I'm really impressed with these headphones. I doubt that you get any added benefits out of a "5.1 or 7.1" headphone set, so save your money. A true 5.1 or 7.1 system relies on placement of the speakers and it's impossible to place 5.1 or 7.1 speakers correctly inside a pair of headphones.

More to the fact, these things sound really, really good. They have a good amount of low end for my Battlefield action. The highs are crisp too. And the wife can't complain too much when I'm gaming in silence. These thing can go really loud so be careful. They seem to be really well made and should last quite awhile. The snap in microphone works well as well.

Couple notes- if you like to play further away from your console, invest a couple dollars into a USB extension cable. The usb port provides the power and also is for the microphone as well. The included USB cable is pretty long but, I like to sit further back. Also with the PS3 make sure you have your original video/audio output cable. This is what the headphones hook into for the sound. Other than that you're good to go. The headset has 2 volume controls - for the headphones and mic respectively as well as a mute switch for the Mic. If you are going to be using these off and on and still want to use your A/V receiver also make sure you select the "mutiple audio output" selection in the PS3 settings panel. This will allow you to switch between your headset and A/V receiver/ TV without having to constantly make any changes in the settings.

Jabra BT125 Bluetooth Headset , Black

Jabra BT125 Bluetooth Headset , Black Customer Reviews

You get what you pay for,The price on this headset is great. I got it for $30 but its price is rapidly dropping on Amazon as well as their marketplace sellers.

Comfort: The headset is comfortable for a few minutes, but extended use is a bit irritating. It fits my ear but is by no means one-size-fits-all. The plastic hook is bendable, though, so it's as accommodating as can be expected.

Earpiece: Sound quality is good as long as you're within a meter of the phone. However, in a car, road noise makes the headset difficult to hear even on the highest volume setting. Turning up the volume also worsens the echo problem, see below.

Microphone: Like all microphones on headsets like this, it is very sensitive. It picks up anything near you very well, including other people. Use in crowded rooms is not recommended. In addition, with the earpiece volume turned up high, callers often complained of echoing, though I could not hear any myself.

Reception: When further away than one meter, or when there are objects (such as a wall) in the way, static becomes a MAJOR issue. Sometimes there's static even right next to the phone, but this is rare.

Features: Not many to speak of. Pairing was simple and the single button interacts with the voice dialing feature on my phone (though I should note that the feature does not work unless I speak very loudly, which makes it impossible to use in public). However, misplaced button presses will call back the last person called on my phone, which makes storing the headset in a pocket while turned on a bad idea.

Farewell Motorola H500, you won't be missed.Searching for the perfect Bluetooth headset is akin, I think to some people, the search for the Holy Grail. I don't believe there is ever going to be a Bluetooth headset that is "perfect". It will be, and should be, the "right fit" for the person using.

Pros:
* Sound quality. Now I can hear and those I'm speaking to can hear.
* Speech clarity. Quality with a Samsung Synce is excellent.
* Sensitive microphone. Be careful what you say or do because the people on the other side will hear it. I'm just saying.
* Size. It is tiny. But I've also got a big head so most look tiny to me.
* Price ($33 from Amazon as of this review).
* Adjustable. The ear hook is party bendable allowing customization to your ear.

Cons:
* Sensitive microphone. See above. Picks up road noise in the car especially if your car is loud (not really the fault of the headset but worth mentioning).
* Size (again I've got big ears and haven't quite got it right).
* Cheap feel.

Cyber Acoustics AC-840 Internet Communication USB Mono Headset (Personal Computers)

Cyber Acoustics AC-840 Internet Communication USB Mono Headset Customer Reviews

Awesome headset,I just bought 2 more sets (we now have 2 PS3's in the house) This is my 2nd set for me. The mute, volume control, and price make this the best bang for the buck in gaming headsets. This is my 2nd set for me because the 1st set I stepped on and cracked and the swing arm also got loose over time. The only downside to these headsets is that after 1.8 years the arm got real loose and would not stay in place. The headset was still useable because it "flexed" up close enought to my mouth to pick me up but I decided to get another one since I was ordering another for our 2nd PS3 in the house anyway. MUTE FUNCTION and VOLUME CONTROL is a MUST on any headset you decide to buy.

Perfect for Ventrilo or TeamSpeak / VOIP,I have been using the AC-840 for about 3 years. They have very good audio quality in both the speaker and the microphone. For the price, I am not careful these. I have one in my laptop bag that I use for VOIP when on business trips. I love using this headset while playing World of Warcraft. I am able to play the game audio through my desktop speakers and speak with friends on Ventrilo through the headset. During the day, I use the headset while hosting webinars on GotoMeeting. I am quite rough on the one in the office as well as I have ran over the cable as least 50 times! I purchase a new headset about every 18 months as the padding starts to shred after daily use for more then 10 hours a day. I have never experienced low microphone audio. I have purchased 6 of these for my business and personal use. The first time you connect to your PC you will need to adjust the microphone in the recording panel to full. I have used this headset on Windows XP, Vista and Windows 7 on desktops and laptops. Do remember that this headset will appear to be a different audio card in your computer, so it has its own "speakers" and "microphone", and will have its own recording and playback volume settings. The only thing that would make these better is if the cable was a tad bit thicker and the wind screen was able to be purchased separately.

Motorola H385 Bluetooth Headset (Silver)

Motorola H385 Bluetooth Headset (Silver) Customer Reviews

I'm liking it, I got this headset to go with a Motorola Karma. The reception is loud and clear. I love the fact that the blue light is teeny and discreet, and the whole headset is compact, about 2" long. I'm surprised that the ear hook is as comfortable as it is. It's hard but flexible. I expected it to chafe, but it's fine, though I don't keep the headset on for more than a few hours at a time. My shipment came with only the round earbud, which fortunately fits me fine.

It seems to work for a long time on one charge, but I've only had it for a week--about 15 hours of use, enough time for one recharge, and the charge is still over 80%. I tend to keep it turned off when not in use, which may affect how long the charge lasts.

There's some minor interference when a microwave oven is running, but it affects only me, not the other person.

This headset gets my stamp of approval and recommendation.

EDIT: It's been about three months and I still recommend this headset. One problem that started happening a while ago (maybe a couple months?) is that the rubber earbud slips off easily. I glued it in place, but it didn't hold for very long. Another type of adhesive would probably work better, but I haven't gotten around to it yet.

works great for PS3,I didn't buy this for a phone - I bought this for my husband who is obsessed with playing Modern Warfare on our PS3. He had been dying for a chance to finally get to coordinate attacks with the other people on the Playstation Network. I had avoided getting him one because I figured it would just encourage more playing.

But then someone told me that you could use any bluetooth headset with the PS3. So I snagged one of these off of the shopping god, Amazon. After a little confusion in the part of set up (because SOMEONE won't read the instructions) we charged this bad boy up and he was chattering away.

And then I discovered the wonder that I had never known... if he has the headset on - the rest of the babbling idiots are not cursing over my TV as the kids walk by. Now it's not silent, the gunshots and background music still play, but I don't have to listen to a bunch of 12 year olds who just learned the F bomb drop it every chance they get. It's like a miracle! Had I known this I would have bought him one long ago.

I haven't tried it on, but he says that it's comfortable and he played for several hours with no issues so the charge must be okay. I can't comment on the quality in regards to a cell phone, but for the PS3 it's working like a champ.

Highly recommended for people who are tired of listening to idiots screaming over their TV while someone else is playing the PS3.
